Pete was born August 24, 1942, to Paul and Mildred (Lehman) Hilty. He was a 1960 graduate of Morgan County R-II School. Following graduation, he attended a mechanical school in Kansas City.
On January 11, 1975, he married the love of his life, Wanda Hagerman. The couple had three children, Timm Hilty of Salt Lake City, Utah, Rachel Hilty Faron and husband Justin of Versailles and one infant child that preceded him in death. He loved his children with a great love. He was an amazing father and example of faith. However, one of his greatest treasures were his three grandchildren: Abigail “Abi”, Joel and Anna Faron. They were his pride and joy!
Pete worked as a dairy farmer most of his life and at Gates Rubber Company in Versailles for nineteen years.
Pete had a contagious smile. He loved to socialize with his friends and family. He loved sharing a cup of coffee with whoever would pull up a seat. He didn’t know a stranger. Pete was not afraid to speak his mind or give his opinion, but it was usually followed with words of wisdom. He was a man of amazing faith. His relationship with the Lord was what sustained him throughout his life, especially the last few months.
Pete is survived by his wife, Wanda; children, Timm and Rachel and husband Justin; grandchildren, Abi, Joel and Anna; four siblings, Loretta Baumgartner and husband Daniel of Kansas, Lovina Rahn and husband Gene of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Phillip Hilty and wife Brenda of Versailles and Colleen Swanson and husband Richard of Quadra Island, British Columbia Canada; brother by choice, Joe Lehman and wife Jodi of Jefferson City, Missouri along with nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
