Maupin, Eugene

Eugene Maupin, age 76, of Fortuna, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born July 18, 1937, in Moniteau County, Missouri, a son of Ivan O. and Hilda (Brandt) Maupin.

On June 1, 1957, in Eldon, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Marie Lupardus, who survives the home.

Eugene farmed most of his life with many other interests including, a fencing business, construction, welding and was a cattleman as well as a grain farmer. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed talking on his CB radio, hunting and visiting with family, friends and neighbors.

He was a member of the Campfire Fellowship Cowboy Church in Tipton.

In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by a son, Darrel Maupin of the home; daughters, Kathy Bentch and husband Dale of Versailles, Missouri, Beth Merriott and husband Joe of Versailles, Missouri and Linda Williams and husband Doug of Bonnots Mill, Missouri; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his mother, Hilda Maupin currently residing at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Missouri; brother, Herman Jobe of Florida; sister, JoAnn Brandt of Mississippi; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Ivan O. Maupin and sixteen brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Dave Zapf officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Newkirk Cemetery in Fortuna. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Bentch, Don

Don Bentch, age 87, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at his home. He was born November 14, 1925, in Sagrada, Missouri, a son of George “Ezra” and Minnie “Opal” McDavitt Bentch.

On June 3, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was married to Mary Louise Weaver, who preceded him in death in 1993.

Don was cofounder with his wife of Barncraft Mouldings and Hardwoods and worked there until his death.

He was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church.

Don is survived by his children, Sharon Swarr and husband David of Richmond, Virginia, Larry Bentch and wife Jackie of Versailles, Dale Bentch and wife Kathy of Versailles, Gary Bentch and wife Linda of Versailles, Timothy Bentch and wife Lorri of Princeton, New Jersey and Ron Bentch and wife Cindy of Versailles; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; a brother, C.E. Bentch and wife Betty of Holts Summit, Missouri; a sister, Leila Wenger and husband Paul of Hesston, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Glendola Wenger and Eunice Lehman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 5, at the Bethel Mennonite Church. Graveside services and interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association.
