Albert Abraham Wenger, age 88, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, November 27, 2010, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover. He was born March 25, 1922, in Versailles, Missouri, the son of the late Jesse Walter and Ella Lehman Wenger.
On July 24, 1949, at the Mt. Zion Mennonite Church, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Diener, who preceded him in death on April 26, 1997.
Albert graduated on June 3, 1941, from Hesston College and Bible School in Hesston, Kansas. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed woodworking.
He was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in Fortuna.
He is survived by his children, David Wenger and wife Ginger of Boonville, Karen Gingerich and husband Ken and Linda Ewert and husband Reg both of Omaha, Nebraska, Danny Wenger and Bob Wenger and wife Karla both of Versailles, Ann Loganbill and husband Dean of Barnett, and Carol Evans and husband Russ of Blue Springs, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Paul Wenger and wife Lela of Hesston, Kansas; his sister, Bertha Swarr and husband of Harrisonburg, Virginia; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Wenger, his brothers, Roy Wenger and Norman Wenger, his sister, Viola Ramer, and his daughter-in-law, Dorcas Wenger.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Fortuna with Pastor Dave Zapf officiating. Interment will be held at the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Versailles. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
