Eli E. Miller, age 86, of Fortuna, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover. He was born May 21, 1927, in LaGrange County, Indiana, a son of the late Edward and Lizzie Ann (Miller) Miller.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Kauffman who preceded him in death. Later, he married Jerilyn Baumgartner who survives the home.
Eli worked in the steel industry most of his life, as a steel fabricator.
He was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church of Fortuna and was also a member of Gideon’s International.
Eli enjoyed carpentry and built many homes throughout his life.
In addition to his wife, Jeri, he is survived by his children, Bruce Miller of Springfield, Missouri, Marlin Miller and wife Delores of Versailles, Missouri, Clifford Miller and wife Jan of Versailles, Missouri, Eugenia Bauer and husband Paul of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Melanie Dooley and husband Ed of Valparaiso, Indiana; step-daughter, Kara Hall and husband Mike of Jefferson City, Missouri; step-son, Kerry Baumgartner and wife Janie of Fortuna, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brothers, Alvin Miller and wife Mary, Freeman Miller and wife Mary Ellen, Omar Miller and wife Barbara and Truman Miller, all of Indiana; his sister, Viola Rogich of Limon, Colorado; his sister-in-law, Mary Miller of Michigan and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce Miller, his brother, John Miller and his sister, Sarah Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 13th, at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Fortuna with Pastor Dave Zapf officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideon’s International.
