Laurel W. Garber, age 75, of Tipton, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born September 26, 1936, in Versailles, Missouri, the son of the late Daniel and Elma Aeschbacher Garber.

On September 28, 1956, in Versailles, he was united in marriage to Shirley Noyes, who survives of the home.

Laurel was a retired linesman working for Co-Mo Electric for 11 years, and Ameren for 31 years.

Some hobbies he enjoyed during his retirement were: attending tractor pulls, camping, collecting trains, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid sports and racing fan.

Laurel was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in Fortuna.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his son, Steve Garber of Tipton; his daughters, Kim Wilhelm and husband Todd and Tammy Lehman and husband Steve both of Versailles, and Tara Garber of Tipton; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Lydia Lehman of Berne, Indiana and Erma Goering of Moundridge, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, and his brothers, Vernon Garber and Daniel Clifford Garber.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Reverend Dennis Maxwell officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
