Bethel Mennonite Church was founded shortly after the Civil War by a group of Mennonites who migrated to Missouri from Ohio. The church has always been part of what has been called "Progressive Mennonites"; that is, the church is evangelical/conservative in beliefs but culturally progressive. In 2002 the church joined the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches. Core values of the church are Loving God, Loving Our Neighbors, Seeking God through Prayer, Seeing Life through a Biblical Worldview, and Serving God together through Team Ministry. The church strives to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere and foster a close-knit community of Christ-followers.
